Sean Whipps is a California based design director working at Google.
With an interest in exploring the infinite, his work is led by balancing purpose and impact while using a blend of design and invention across every digital medium available.
Currently Sean is thinking about how people can view their lifetime of memories that they carry around with them in their pocket each day at Google Photos.
In 2019 Sean took a design leadership position at Instagram where he led the design team behind Instagram Stories and Reels. Over a year and a half the team shipped a new, scalable camera interface, developed an AR platform that blurs the line between art, culture and technology while also shipping several interactive tools that helped over a billion users express who they are.
Starting in 2017, he developed several machine learning features that reside across the Google suite of apps and co-patented Google Drive Priority, a location agnostic file system that utilizes machine learning that allows for people to stay focused on what matters most - getting work done.
From 2014 - 2017, Sean led the redesign of the world's second most visited website, YouTube.com which averages five billion videos being watched and over thirty million unique visitors, totaling over a billion hours of watch time every single day.
